The original parcel of high quality matrix opal was mined and cut in 2001. Unearthed in the remote outback opal fields of Andamooka in South Australia. This was the best matrix we have ever seen and has not been seen since.
A total of 88 astonishing gemstones (444ct) were cut from the parcel and aptly named the "Madonna Collection" after one of the miners daughters. The collection has been sold over the years to high end clients around the world , with the exception of 5 gems that remained in our private vault. The time has come to part ways and offer this remarkable matrix opal to the public.Beautifully cut into a freestyle cabochon with super high polish, this gemstone is unparalleled in the matrix opal world.
